Israel and U.S. Rescue Yazidi Woman Fawzia Held by Hamas-Linked ISIS Captor in Gaza
Oct 3, 2024, 02:25 PM
Israeli forces, in coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Israel, Jordan, and other international actors, have rescued 21-year-old Yazidi woman Fawzia Amin Sido, who was kidnapped by Islamic State militants in Iraq ten years ago and held captive in Gaza. Abducted at the age of 11 during the Sinjar massacre in 2014, Fawzia was sold to a Palestinian ISIS fighter affiliated with Hamas, who took her to Gaza and forced her into marriage. The captor, a Hamas-affiliated ISIS terrorist, was reportedly eliminated in an airstrike. Fawzia has been reunited with her family in Iraq.
