Israel Bombs Hezbollah Strongholds in Beirut After Evacuation Warnings
Nov 12, 2024, 09:10 AM
Israel conducted multiple airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut's southern suburbs, including the Dahieh district and Haret Hreik neighborhood, after issuing evacuation orders to residents on November 12. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) warned residents of specific buildings and neighborhoods, including 11 locations in Dahieh, to evacuate at least 500 meters away due to imminent strikes targeting Hezbollah facilities allegedly embedded in civilian areas. Less than an hour after the warnings, at least 13 airstrikes struck the designated areas, causing significant destruction to residential buildings, including high-rise structures. Powerful explosions were heard across Beirut, and thick smoke rose from the targeted sites. There were no immediate reports of casualties. These attacks mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, intensifying tensions in the region.
