FBI Arrests 28-Year-Old Houston Man Anas Said Accused of Plotting '9/11-Style' Attack and Supporting ISIS
Nov 14, 2024, 07:50 PM
Federal authorities have arrested 28-year-old Houston resident Anas Said on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS. According to the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas, Said is accused of creating and disseminating ISIS propaganda videos and social media posts, as well as planning a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, including researching how to conduct attacks on local military recruiting centers and plotting to kill former President George W. Bush. Agents allege that he bragged about committing a '9/11-style' attack if he had the resources. Said was arrested on November 8 after a seven-year federal investigation. When confronted by agents, he reportedly threw his phone to the ground to shatter it. FBI Houston Special Agent in Charge Douglas Williams stated, 'We've taken a suspected terrorist off the streets of Houston.'
