Catastrophic Landslide Closes Teton Pass Highway Indefinitely
Jun 9, 2024, 03:04 AM
A catastrophic landslide has caused the indefinite closure of Wyoming Highway 22 over Teton Pass, a critical route linking Jackson, Wyoming, and Victor, Idaho. The landslide, which occurred overnight Friday and continued into Saturday morning, washed away a significant portion of the road following a mudslide. The Wyoming Department of Transportation reported that work to repair an existing crack was already underway when the landslide struck. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths have been reported. The closure of this key artery is expected to have significant impacts on commuters and commerce, particularly as the region enters its summer tourism season.
