Tamaulipas Deputy Vicente Verástegui Found Safe After Kidnapping by Armed Men

Vicente Verástegui Ostos, a local deputy in Tamaulipas and member of the PAN party, was kidnapped on Friday by armed men. The Tamaulipas State Prosecutor's Office confirmed the abduction and launched a search operation. Verástegui is the brother of César Verástegui, a former senator and gubernatorial candidate, and the uncle of Eduardo Verástegui. He was found alive and safe on Saturday, with authorities stating it was an 'attempted deprivation of liberty'. Verástegui is now with his family.
