Illegal Immigrant Jose Ibarra Convicted of Murdering Georgia Student, 22-Year-Old Laken Riley
Nov 20, 2024, 04:38 PM
Jose Ibarra, a 26-year-old Venezuelan national who entered the U.S. illegally, was found guilty on all ten counts in the murder of 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student, Laken Hope Riley. The verdict was delivered on Wednesday after a multi-day trial in Athens, Georgia. Riley was killed in February 2024 while jogging near the university campus after prosecutors said she 'refused to be his rape victim.' Ibarra was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping with bodily injury, and 'peeping Tom.' He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. The case has fueled national debate over immigration during this year's presidential election.
