21-Year-Old Turkish Illegal Immigrant Charged with Abduction and Rape of New York Teen
Jun 27, 2024, 02:52 PM
A Turkish illegal immigrant, identified as Sakir Akkan, has been charged with raping a 15-year-old runaway girl in New York. Akkan, 21, entered the United States illegally from Mexico into California in November 2023, where he was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol agents in San Diego but later released due to lack of bed space. The incident occurred on May 14, 2024, when Akkan allegedly forced the girl into his green Toyota Prius using a metal pipe. Despite the severity of the crime, Albany police did not notify the public immediately. Akkan was captured on June 18, 2024.
