Referee David Coote Sacked After Klopp Remarks and Video Scandal
Dec 9, 2024, 05:23 PM
Premier League referee David Coote, from Newark, Nottinghamshire, has been sacked by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) following an investigation into his conduct. Coote's employment was terminated with immediate effect after videos emerged in which he made derogatory remarks about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, referring to him as a "bitch" and calling the club a "shit club." Another video appeared to show Coote snorting a white powder. He had been suspended for one month prior to his dismissal. PGMOL stated that Coote's actions were a serious breach of his employment contract and deemed his position untenable. They also expressed a commitment to supporting Coote's welfare.
