MLB Hit Leader Pete Rose Dies at 83
Sep 30, 2024, 11:53 PM
Pete Rose, Major League Baseball's all-time hits leader, has died at the age of 83. Rose, a Cincinnati native, set a record with 4,256 career hits over his legendary 24-year career. He was a 17-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion. Rose also held the record as MLB's all-time games played leader with 3,562 games. However, his career was marred by a lifetime ban from baseball due to gambling on games, including those involving his own team as a player and manager. This ban kept him out of the Hall of Fame despite his significant achievements. Rose passed away in his Las Vegas home, and his death was confirmed by the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner in Nevada. His agent, Ryan Fiterman, requested privacy for the family.
