Jewish Voice for Peace to Pay $677,634 for Fraudulently Obtaining $338,817 PPP Loan and Full Forgiveness
Jan 15, 2025, 03:50 PM
Jewish Voice for Peace, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization, has agreed to pay $677,634 to settle allegations of fraud related to a $338,817 second-draw loan under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) of the CARES Act. The organization received the loan and subsequently applied for and was granted full forgiveness. The allegations stem from claims that Jewish Voice for Peace falsely certified it was not primarily engaged in political or lobbying activities, which is a requirement for eligibility under the CARES Act. The investigation into these claims was initiated following a whistleblower complaint from the Zionist Advocacy Center. U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and U.S. Small Business Administration General Counsel Therese Meers announced the settlement, emphasizing the importance of the PPP in supporting businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to protect the integrity of such programs.
