Harvey Weinstein Hospitalized Amid Leukemia Diagnosis, Alleges Inhumane Conditions at Rikers Island
Dec 2, 2024, 09:33 PM
Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized after receiving alarming blood test results, his attorney said on Monday. Weinstein, who is currently incarcerated at Rikers Island awaiting a new trial, was transferred to New York City's Bellevue Hospital for emergent treatment due to health concerns, including numerous illnesses such as leukemia. His lawyer alleges that Weinstein has not been receiving adequate medical care at Rikers Island and is being subjected to "cruel and unusual punishment" and "inhumane conditions." Weinstein is reportedly suing New York City over the conditions and medical care at the jail complex.
