Harvey Weinstein Pleads Not Guilty to First-Degree Sex Crime Charge from 2006 in Manhattan Court
Sep 18, 2024, 08:24 PM
Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer, appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to a new indictment charging him with a criminal sex act in the first degree. The charge stems from an alleged assault in a lower Manhattan hotel between April and May 2006. This new indictment, issued by a grand jury earlier this month, comes nearly five months after his previous sex crimes conviction in New York was overturned by the state's highest court. Weinstein is currently awaiting a retrial in his landmark #MeToo case, which is scheduled to begin in November. His lawyer, Arthur Aidala, stated outside the court that they have 'absolutely no idea' who the accuser is.
