McConnell Supports Indictment of Trump Over 2020 Election, January 6 Role
Oct 20, 2024, 09:50 PM
Senator Mitch McConnell has expressed strong support for Special Counsel Jack Smith's indictment of former President Donald Trump regarding his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. McConnell stated, 'If he hasn't committed indictable offenses, I don't know what one is,' and emphasized that there is no doubt Trump inspired the January 6 Capitol riot. McConnell hopes Trump will 'pay a price' for his actions. This stance contrasts with earlier reports in January of 2024 of 'soft' support for Trump from Senators Jon Thune and Tom Tillis. These remarks were highlighted in a new book by @tackettdc.
