Jesus Ayala, 19, Found Unfit for Trial in Killing of Retired Police Chief Andreas Probst
Oct 11, 2024, 10:05 PM
Jesus Ayala, a 19-year-old Las Vegas resident, who was filmed laughing while fatally hitting retired California police chief Andreas Probst with a car in a hit-and-run incident as he rode his bicycle, has been found incompetent to stand trial. Clark County District Court Judge Christy Craig deemed Ayala unfit, resulting in his transfer from prison to a maximum-security psychiatric facility in Las Vegas for further competency testing. The decision has upset Probst's widow, who expressed frustration over the ruling. Ayala is one of two teenagers accused in the incident.
