TikTok Plans Lawsuit Against U.S. Bill Forcing Sale or Ban, Cites First Amendment
Apr 22, 2024, 11:45 AM
TikTok has announced its intention to challenge a U.S. legislative bill that mandates either a sale or a ban of the app, which is owned by ByteDance Ltd. of China. The company has communicated to its employees that it plans to file a lawsuit if the bill is enacted into law. Michael Beckerman, TikTok's head of public policy for the Americas, stated that this legal action marks 'the beginning, not the end' of a long process. The company argues that the bill is a violation of its users' First Amendment rights.
