Texas Wins 5th Circuit Appeal to Maintain Border Buoys Near Eagle Pass
Jul 31, 2024, 12:58 AM
Texas can maintain a floating river barrier to stem migration on the Mexico border, following a ruling by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The court reversed a previous injunction that required the removal of the buoys in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton celebrated the decision as a significant victory over the Biden Administration's efforts to remove the barriers. The federal district court was found to have abused its discretion in ordering the removal of the buoys, which are intended to prevent dangerous river crossings.
