Meta Faces Revived Lawsuit Alleging Hiring Discrimination by U.S. Appeals Court
Jun 27, 2024, 04:52 PM
A U.S. appeals court has revived a class-action lawsuit against Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, alleging hiring discrimination. The lawsuit, filed by software engineer Purushothaman Rajaram, a naturalized U.S. citizen, claims that Meta prefers to hire foreign workers over U.S. citizens because they can be paid lower wages. The court's decision on Thursday allows U.S. citizens to bring claims under Section 1981 of the 1866 Civil Rights Act. This ruling means Meta must continue to litigate the case.
