Brigadier General Hamid Mazandarani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) Nineva Brigade in Golestan province, was killed on Monday in a gyroplane crash during a military exercise in southeastern Iran's restive Sistan-Baluchistan province near the Pakistani border. The crash also claimed the life of the pilot, Hamed Jandaghi. The IRGC's Quds Base public relations department reported that the gyroplane went down during an anti-terror operation or combat training mission in the region. Further details about the cause of the crash have not been disclosed, and investigations are reportedly underway.
