FEMA Fires Marn'i Washington for Avoiding Trump Homes; Florida AG Probes Discrimination Claims During Hurricane Milton Relief
Nov 12, 2024, 04:18 PM
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has terminated an employee, identified as Marn'i Washington, after she instructed disaster relief workers to avoid homes displaying signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump during relief efforts for Hurricane Milton in Florida. FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell called the actions 'reprehensible' and stated that it violated the agency's core values to help people regardless of political affiliation. The incident has been referred to the Office of Special Counsel. Washington claims that the practice was not isolated and that senior leadership was aware, alleging similar instructions were given in other states, including the Carolinas. The House Oversight Committee is calling on FEMA Director Criswell to testify regarding the incident. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced an investigation, stating, 'Rest assured, we will not wait for Biden-Harris to police themselves. Florida will be investigating this scandal.'
