A powerful earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitude struck Dingri County in the city of Xigaze in China's Xizang (Tibet) Autonomous Region at 9:05 a.m. Beijing Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake as magnitude 7.1. The earthquake resulted in the deaths of at least 95 people and injured 130 others, according to regional disaster relief headquarters and Chinese state media reports.
