37,000-Year-Old Mummified Sabre-Toothed Kitten Found in Siberian Permafrost
Nov 15, 2024, 12:03 PM
A mummified juvenile sabre-toothed cat, estimated to be 37,000 years old, has been discovered in the Upper Pleistocene permafrost on the Badyarikha River in the Indigirka River basin, northeast Yakutia, Russia. The remarkably preserved kitten provides a rare glimpse into the prehistoric era. This discovery adds to the series of significant finds in the Arctic Siberia, where at least 20 massive craters have appeared in the permafrost since 2014.
