12 Dead, 14 Injured as Tempo Traveller with 23 Passengers Falls into Gorge in Rudraprayag

A tragic road accident occurred in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway, where a tempo traveller carrying 23 passengers skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge, landing in the Alaknanda River. As a result, 12 people lost their lives, and 14 others were injured. Seven bodies have been recovered so far. Rescue operations are underway, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police teams actively involved. The seriously injured have been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for advanced treatment. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered an investigation into the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his grief and assured that all possible assistance is being provided to the affected families. IG Garhwal confirmed the details of the rescue operations.
