Palisades Fire Burns 21,600 Acres, Destroys Home in Mandeville Canyon
Jan 11, 2025, 06:50 PM
The Palisades Fire, originating in Pacific Palisades, has reached the Mandeville Canyon neighborhood in Los Angeles, destroying at least one home and threatening others. Aerial footage captured by news outlets shows a home engulfed in flames, marking the first structure lost in the area since the fire began advancing toward the 405 Freeway. Firefighting efforts include aerial water drops and the use of a DC-10 tanker, which deployed nearly 10,000 gallons of fire retardant to slow the fire's progress near Brentwood. The fire flared up on Friday night and has burned approximately 21,600 acres with containment at 11% as of Saturday morning. Evacuation orders have been issued as the fire continues to threaten residential areas, with over 400 homes reportedly destroyed across affected regions. The Palisades Fire is among the most destructive in Los Angeles County's history.
