A preliminary 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck about 4.4 miles north of Malibu, near the Los Angeles coast, on Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was felt in parts of Los Angeles County, including Malibu and Thousand Oaks. It occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. local time, with reports indicating that the area has been seismically active since September 12, 2024.
