41 Non-Citizens Among Dozens Arrested for Looting in Florida Post-Hurricanes Helene and Milton
Oct 26, 2024, 09:39 PM
In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, authorities in Pinellas County, Florida, have arrested nearly 100 individuals for crimes targeting vulnerable residents and businesses. Among these, 45 people were specifically arrested for looting, with 41 of them identified as non-citizens, accounting for 91% of the looters. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri disclosed that many of these individuals traveled from out-of-state to commit these crimes. The arrests were part of a broader effort to protect storm-damaged areas from further harm. The sheriff emphasized that Florida will not tolerate such illegal activities.
