34-Year-Old Angélique Angarni-Filopon Becomes First Miss Martinique to Win Miss France 2025
Dec 15, 2024, 02:42 AM
Angélique Angarni-Filopon, a 34-year-old flight attendant from Martinique, was crowned Miss France 2025 at the Futuroscope Arena in Poitiers on December 14, 2024. She is the oldest winner in the history of the competition and the first Miss Martinique to win the title, succeeding Miss France 2024, Eve Gilles. Angarni-Filopon's victory was not solely due to public votes, as she was the second choice of the public in the second round, behind Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Sabah Aïb. However, she won the favor of the all-female jury, which ranked her first, ahead of Miss Corse, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Miss Guadeloupe, and Miss Côte d'Azur. The competition saw a change in rules allowing candidates over the age of 24 to participate, a move that enabled Angarni-Filopon's participation and eventual win. Despite her age, she emphasized that it does not define her, and she aims to inspire women by showing that it is never too late to pursue dreams. Her win has sparked discussions about the modernization of beauty pageants, with some countries like the Netherlands abolishing their own contests due to changing times.
