TUSAŞ Completes First HÜRKUŞ-II Flight at Akıncı Base, Reaches 6,500 Feet and 140 Knots
Dec 30, 2024, 08:10 AM
The Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has successfully completed the first flight of the HÜRKUŞ-II, a new generation training aircraft developed for the Turkish Air Force. The flight, which took place from the Akıncı base, reached an altitude of 6,500 feet and a speed of 140 knots over a duration of 20 minutes. This milestone marks a significant step in meeting the pilot training needs of the Turkish Air Force and advancing the capabilities of Turkey's defense industry. The HÜRKUŞ-II project, which began on May 3, 2021, has undergone rigorous ground and flight tests. The aircraft incorporates local and national equipment such as the canopy, cooling system, hydraulic pump, radio, and IFF, enhancing the domestic production rate in the defense sector. The first 15 of a total of 55 HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft are scheduled to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force by 2025, with the remaining 40 to follow by 2027.
