Saudi Crown Prince Pledges $600 Billion U.S. Investment, Trump Seeks $1 Trillion and Lower Oil Prices
Jan 23, 2025, 04:15 PM
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has pledged to invest at least $600 billion in the United States over the next four years, following a phone call with President Donald Trump. This commitment was made as Trump suggested he would consider making Saudi Arabia his first foreign trip in his new term if the kingdom made a significant financial commitment. The crown prince's pledge came after Trump's inauguration and marks the first call with a foreign leader since Trump's return to the White House. The two leaders discussed efforts to bring stability to the Middle East, bolster regional security, and combat terrorism, as well as opportunities to increase mutual prosperity through trade and investment. Trump also stated he would ask the crown prince to increase the investment to $1 trillion and urged Saudi Arabia and OPEC to reduce oil prices.
