The third candidate, Francisco Merchán, withdrew just before the voting commenced. Louzán, president of the Galician Football Federation and a prominent figure associated with Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will lead the RFEF until 2028. His election comes amidst controversy due to his conviction for prevarication, with a pending appeal to the Supreme Court scheduled for February 5. Despite this, he aims to bring peace and stability to Spanish football, proposing initiatives such as an OTT platform for non-professional football and futsal, an office for clubs and federated members, and hosting the "best World Cup in history."
