OPEC Renews Haitham Al Ghais as Secretary-General, Sets Next Meeting for May 2025, Names New Chairman

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has renewed Haitham Al Ghais's term as Secretary-General for an additional three years, starting August 1, 2025. The decision was made during the 189th Ordinary Meeting of the OPEC Conference. Al Ghais will continue to lead the organization until August 1, 2028. Additionally, the conference resolved that its next ordinary meeting will convene on May 28, 2025. Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Governor of Nigeria for OPEC, was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Governors for 2025.
