Israel Seeks 30-Day Extension for Lebanon Withdrawal Amid 60-Day Ceasefire Deadline and Hezbollah Violations

Israel has officially announced that it will not complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by the 60-day deadline set in the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, which expires on Sunday. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated that the withdrawal will extend beyond the agreed period due to Lebanon's failure to fully enforce the ceasefire agreement. Israel has requested a 30-day extension from the U.S. to complete the withdrawal, citing the slow deployment of the Lebanese army and ongoing violations by Hezbollah. The Israeli military has been instructed to remain in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, while redeployment has begun in the western sector according to agreements with the Lebanese government.
