Iran's IRGC Unveils Underground Naval Base 500 Meters Deep, Claims Ships Can Destroy U.S. Aircraft Carrier
Jan 18, 2025, 04:57 PM
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has unveiled its first-ever underground naval base, referred to as an 'underground strategic base' or 'floating city', located approximately 500 meters below ground. The facility houses hundreds of missile-equipped vessels, including Zolfaghar-class ships, which the IRGC Navy commander claims can destroy an American aircraft carrier with just three vessels. The underground complex, designed to securely store the IRGC's naval assets in extensive tunnels, is virtually impervious to bunker-buster bombs. Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami visited the strategic base, highlighting significant advancements in navigation range, vessel speed, missile range, accuracy, and destructive power. Despite the extensive tunnels, the IRGC Navy faces space shortages due to the number of vessels. The base includes combat boats specialized in targeting US warships.
