On Friday, January 17, 2025, an accountability court in Rawalpindi sentenced Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years in prison after finding him guilty of corrupt practices in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case. His wife, Bushra Bibi, was also convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison. The verdict was delivered by Judge Nasir Javed Rana at the Adiala Jail, where the trial was held. The court found Khan guilty of misusing his position to grant undue benefits in a land deal involving the Al-Qadir Trust, leading to significant losses to the national exchequer. Both Khan and Bushra Bibi were fined, with Khan receiving a fine of PKR 1 million and Bushra Bibi fined PKR 0.5 million. Bushra Bibi was arrested from the courtroom immediately following the verdict.
