Imran Khan Sentenced to 14 Years, Wife to 7 Years in Al-Qadir Trust Corruption Case

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have been sentenced to 14 years and 7 years in prison, respectively, by an anti-corruption court in Pakistan. The conviction relates to the Al-Qadir Trust case, which involves allegations of corruption linked to the establishment of a welfare foundation. Khan, who has been in custody since August 2023, and Bibi were fined 1 million rupees and 500,000 rupees, respectively. Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has claimed the conviction is politically motivated and plans to challenge the verdict. The sentencing adds to the ongoing legal battles Khan faces, following his ouster from power in 2022.
