Freeman F. Martin, a former Texas Ranger, was sworn in as the new Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) by Governor Greg Abbott on Monday morning. Martin, who is the first Texas Ranger to ascend to this role, replaces retiring Executive Director Steve McCraw.
