Jan 8, 2025, 07:45 PM
A JetBlue passenger, Angel Luis Torres Morales of Puerto Rico, was arrested after he allegedly opened an emergency exit door on a plane taxiing for takeoff at Boston Logan International Airport. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, causing an emergency slide to deploy on JetBlue flight 161, which was headed to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Morales was quickly restrained by other passengers and subsequently detained by Massachusetts State Police. He was arraigned on charges of interfering with the operations of an aircraft in East Boston District Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 4. The flight was delayed and eventually swapped to another aircraft, which then landed in San Juan. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument Morales had with his girlfriend over a cellphone.
