Anduril to Build $1B Arsenal-1 Factory in Ohio to Produce Autonomous Weapons, Creating 4,000 Jobs
Jan 16, 2025, 02:35 PM
Anduril Industries, a defense technology startup, announced plans to build its first hyperscale manufacturing facility, Arsenal-1, in Columbus, Ohio. The company will invest nearly $1 billion of its own funds into the 5 million-square-foot facility, which is designed for mass production of autonomous systems and weapons. Arsenal-1 aims to produce tens of thousands of aerial and maritime drones, sensors, and other products annually. The project is expected to create more than 4,000 direct jobs, marking the largest single job-creation initiative in Ohio's history. Construction is set to begin immediately, with production slated to start by mid-2026. The site provides access to two runways at Rickenbacker airport, enhancing logistical capabilities.
