Anduril to Build Arsenal-1 in Columbus, Ohio, Targeting Mid-2026 Production Start
Jan 16, 2025, 10:14 AM
Anduril Industries, a Silicon Valley defense startup, has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility named Arsenal-1 in Columbus, Ohio. The company aims to invest $1 billion in this project, which is expected to create 4,000 jobs in the region. The facility will initially occupy 700,000 square feet of an existing structure next to Rickenbacker Airport, with plans to expand to five million square feet. Anduril's Chief Strategy Officer, Chris Brose, highlighted the urgency of the project, stating that the factory needs to be operational by mid-2026 to meet existing production commitments. The site was chosen for its strategic advantages, including access to runways, rail lines, highways, and a skilled labor market. Ohio's Lieutenant Governor, Jon Husted, mentioned that the state is offering financial incentives to support this development, marking it as the largest jobs project in Ohio's history by employment.
