Trump Says "Many Canadians Love Being 51st State" After Trudeau Resigns
Jan 6, 2025, 09:31 PM
Following the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has reiterated his proposal for Canada to become the 51st state of the United States. In statements on social media, Trump claimed that "Many people in Canada love being the 51st State" and suggested that merging the two nations would eliminate trade deficits, reduce taxes, and enhance security against threats from Russia and China. He asserted that the United States can no longer suffer from "massive trade deficits and subsidies" required to support Canada, adding that "Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned." Trump also stated that Canada's military is at the disposal of the U.S., and without American support, "Canada would dissolve." He proposed that removing "artificially drawn" borders would create a "great nation" and benefit both countries by eliminating tariffs and lowering taxes.
