Trudeau Will Not Run in Upcoming Election, Leaving Papineau Riding and Liberal Party Leadership
Jan 15, 2025, 10:20 PM
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that he will not be running in the upcoming federal election. This decision was made public during a press conference following a meeting with Canada's premiers. Trudeau, who has been the Member of Parliament for the Papineau riding since 2008, stated that he has not had much time to consider his future plans after leaving politics, as he remains focused on his current responsibilities. His announcement comes after he resigned as leader of the Liberal Party and as prime minister, with the party set to choose a new leader by March 9, 2025.
