RSF Drone Attack on Last Functioning Hospital in Sudan's Darfur Kills Over 70

A drone attack on the Saudi Hospital in El-Fasher, North Darfur, Sudan, resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people and injured dozens, according to a medical source. The attack occurred on Friday evening and led to the destruction of the hospital's emergency department. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been implicated in the attack, with local authorities and the regional governor, Minni Arko Minawi, reporting a higher death toll of over 70, including women and children. The RSF, engaged in conflict with the Sudanese army since April 2023, have besieged El-Fasher since May but have not captured the city due to resistance from army-aligned militias. The Saudi Hospital was noted as the last functioning public hospital with surgical capacity in the region, amidst widespread destruction of healthcare facilities across Sudan, with up to 80% out of service due to the ongoing conflict.
