Drone Attack on Saudi Hospital in Sudan's Darfur Kills 30 to 70, RSF Blamed
Jan 25, 2025, 02:46 PM
A drone attack on the Saudi Hospital in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, one of the last functioning hospitals in Sudan's Darfur region, has resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people, with reports also indicating 70 killed, and injured dozens more. The attack, which occurred on Friday evening, destroyed the hospital's emergency department. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been blamed for carrying out the strike, with reports indicating that the same building was previously hit by an RSF drone a few weeks ago. The conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, ongoing since April 2023, has led to widespread devastation, with up to 80% of healthcare facilities across Sudan out of service. The war has caused tens of thousands of deaths, displaced over 12 million people, and pushed millions to the brink of famine, particularly affecting the areas around El-Fasher where three displacement camps are already experiencing famine conditions.
