Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid Wins FIFA Best Player 2024, First Brazilian Since Kaká
Dec 17, 2024, 06:07 PM
Vinicius Junior, the 24-year-old Brazilian forward for Real Madrid, has been named The Best FIFA Men's Player 2024 at a ceremony held in Doha, Qatar. This prestigious accolade marks the first time in 17 years that a Brazilian has received the award, with Kaká being the last in 2007, making Vinicius the sixth Brazilian to be honored. Vinicius, who played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's successful 2023-2024 season, scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 games, contributing to the team's victories in La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, and the UEFA Champions League. He narrowly beat Spain's Rodri by five points to claim the award. In his acceptance speech, Vinicius reflected on his journey from humble beginnings, stating, 'It was looking impossible for me to arrive here on this stage... I arrived from a small place, close to poverty and crime. Now I'm here.' He also expressed gratitude to Real Madrid, Flamengo, his family, friends, and teammates.
