Dec 8, 2024, 09:11 PM
Botafogo has won the 2024 Brazilian Championship after defeating São Paulo 2-1 at Estádio Nilton Santos, ending a 29-year wait since their last title in 1995. The victory, secured with goals from Savarino and Gregore, comes just a week after the club secured its first-ever Copa Libertadores, marking an exceptional season with two major titles in one week. Botafogo finished the championship with 79 points, six points ahead of second-place Palmeiras. With this win, Botafogo now has three Brasileiro titles (1968, 1995, and 2024), joining Internacional and Atlético-MG with three league championships each.
