Google Maps to Rename Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America in U.S.

Following an executive order issued by President Donald Trump on his inauguration day, Google announced that it will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on Google Maps in the United States. The change will be visible only to U.S. users and will take effect once it is officially updated in the U.S. Geographic Names System. The Associated Press has announced it will continue using the name 'Gulf of Mexico' despite the executive order. These updates will reflect in the U.S. version of Google Maps, while international users may continue to see the original name.
