Jan 23, 2025, 07:40 AM
A new brush fire, dubbed the Sepulveda Fire, broke out late Wednesday night near the northbound lanes of the I-405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass, Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. The fire, first reported around 11 PM, has spread to approximately 10 acres of brush in the Sepulveda Basin. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is actively responding to the blaze, with fire engines and water-dropping aircraft deployed to combat the fire. Winds in the area are currently at 5 mph, and the fire is moving uphill through heavy brush. There is no immediate threat to structures, and no evacuation orders have been issued, though an evacuation warning was announced for residents south of the 1500 block of Casiano Road, north of Moraga Drive, east of Sepulveda Boulevard, and west of Chalon Road. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
