Olympic Sprinter Fred Kerley Tasered and Arrested in Miami Beach on Battery Charge
Jan 3, 2025, 08:31 PM
Fred Kerley, a two-time Olympic medalist in sprinting, was arrested in Miami Beach after a confrontation with police. The incident occurred late Thursday night when Kerley approached officers who were investigating another incident, expressing concerns about his parked vehicle nearby. According to police reports, Kerley's demeanor became increasingly aggressive, leading to a physical struggle where he was wrestled to the ground and tasered. He faces charges of battery on a police officer, resisting an officer without violence, and disorderly conduct. Additional charges of strong-arm robbery and domestic battery by strangulation were added on Friday, stemming from an earlier incident in May 2024. Kerley's girlfriend, DJ Sky High Baby, was also arrested for resisting an officer without violence during the altercation. Kerley appeared in court on Friday afternoon and was released on his own recognizance, with his attorney claiming the new charges are based on a falsified accusation.
