SpaceX to Deploy Free Starlink Terminals in LA Wildfire Zones Tomorrow Morning
Jan 9, 2025, 05:07 AM
SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, has announced plans to provide free Starlink terminals to areas affected by wildfires in Los Angeles starting tomorrow morning. This initiative comes in response to widespread power outages and communication disruptions caused by the fires, which have impacted over 400,000 homes. TV crews covering the wildfires have been relying on Starlink for live broadcasts due to the complete lack of cell service in the affected areas, such as the Palisades fire zone. Additionally, Charter's Spectrum has made over 35,000 of its WiFi hotspots freely accessible across the greater Los Angeles area to help residents stay connected during the crisis.
