Dec 18, 2024, 11:40 AM
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), the world's leading electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer, has announced plans to significantly expand its battery swapping infrastructure in China. The company aims to build over 1,000 battery swapping stations in 2025, focusing on its new standardized Choco-SEB battery packs. These packs, named #20 and #25, are designed for different vehicle classes and will be used in 10 new EV models developed in collaboration with various partners. CATL's initiative is part of a broader strategy to standardize swappable batteries, which the company believes will play a crucial role in stabilizing the power grid and promoting green energy use. The expansion is expected to help phase out traditional gas stations by offering a quicker and more convenient alternative for EV charging.
