A$AP Rocky Rejects Plea Deal, Faces Up to 24 Years for Alleged Gun Assault on Terell Ephron in Hollywood
Jan 21, 2025, 07:28 PM
A$AP Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, has rejected a plea deal as his trial commenced on charges of firing a gun at a former friend in Hollywood in 2021. The 36-year-old rapper, also known for his roles as a fashion mogul and actor, turned down an offer that included 180 days in jail, three years of probation, and a seven-year suspended sentence. He faces two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, with a potential maximum sentence of 24 years in prison if convicted. The trial, which began with jury selection on Tuesday, involves allegations that Mayers shot at Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, a former friend and collaborator, on November 6, 2021, near a Hollywood hotel. Mayers has pleaded not guilty and his defense, led by attorney Joe Tacopina, plans to argue that the firearm seen in security footage was a 'starter pistol' used as a prop for security purposes. Both Mayers and Ephron were once members of the hip hop collective A$AP Mob.
